Top NWAC Teams Collide in Key Late-Season Matchup
Mount Vernon, WA – October 29, 2025 – Skagit Valley College (15-1 overall, 4-4 NWAC North) returns to DuVall Pavilion for its final home match before a two-game road stretch. The Cardinals will look to build on the momentum of their 3–0 sweep over Everett and hope to play spoiler as they host one of the NWAC’s most dominant programs—the Edmonds College Tritons (28-1 overall, 8-0 NWAC North).
Edmonds Enters as Road-Tested Powerhouse
The Tritons enter the match undefeated on the road (7–0) and with their sights set on locking up the top spot in the NWAC North Region. Edmonds has dropped just one match all season and continues to prove why they’re among the elite in Northwest community college volleyball.
Meanwhile, Skagit Valley aims for back-to-back wins and an opportunity to hand Edmonds its first conference loss of the season—something no team has managed to do this year.
Coaching Clash: Amaral vs. Miranda
The matchup features two of the conference’s most respected coaches.
Joe Amaral, now in his fourth season leading the Cardinals, is the 2024 NWAC Baden Coach of the Year and has guided SVC to a 93–30 overall record with five AVCA All-Americans since 2021.
Across the court, Tony Miranda brings more than a decade of success to Edmonds. Under his leadership, the Tritons have reached the NWAC Playoffs in eight of the past nine seasons, including multiple Elite 8 finishes and a 2025 NWAC Championship run.
Final Home Match Before Road Stretch
For Skagit Valley College, this marks the final opportunity to defend their home court before heading out to face Shoreline and Whatcom to close out the regular season. A win tonight would give the Cardinals key momentum heading into November play.
For Edmonds College, the road to the postseason continues with another opportunity to extend their road dominance and close in on a perfect conference record.
